I'm Not There

In a movie coming out called “I’m Not There” director Todd Haynes is going to try and explore the different stages and personalities of Bob Dylan’s life. However, the director didn’t just get one person to play Dylan – who could even do that? Me? Maybe… but I’m too busy – instead he got seven different people. Some you can see where he’s going, such as Christian Bale. Some are big actors, like Heath Ledger or Richard Gere. And others are very unexpected, such as Marcus Carl Franklin (yes, the kid on the right) and Cate Blanchett.

Now Blanchett is one of my favorite actresses, but an attractive woman playing Dylan? No way that can work….or can it? Check this clip from the movie leaked:

And before you ask, “yes” that is David Cross playing Allan Ginsberg. Not a bad impression at all.

Being an owner of “Don’t Look Back”, the famous Bob Dylan documentary filmed by D.A. Pennebaker, I definitely am impressed by how much she captures Dylan from that time period. She absolutely nailed it. Don’t believe me? Well check out this clip from the documentary:

And because it’s one of the first music videos, and because its one of the greatest songs of all time…. And because it has Dylan and Ginsberg in it here is the trailer from “Don’t Look Back”:
