All You Need This Week...

... are wolves. In honor of Mrs. Hops' favorite restaurant, Lupa, I bring you the Wolf special. There are currently three bands I've been listening to that have to do with Wolves:

Wolfmother: The best description I heard of these guys is "The Darkness if they took themselves seriously". They are the free download of the week at iTunes. Personally, I am not a fan of this pseudo-Zeppelin sound (they end up sounding more like Styx crossed with Spinal Tap to me). It just sounds like they are trying to rip off bands that are a lot better than them. Its been done a million times before.... I just dont have to listen to it.

Wolf Eyes: They're no Frog Eyes.... who are the band who I was originally thinking about when I started this post. I barely know Wolf Eyes, but they kind of suck.

So finally a Wolf band who DOESN'T suck:
Wolf Parade: Another great Canadian band - and friends of both Frog Eyes (mentioned above) and one of the best bands on the planet: Arcade Fire. Click the link to download "You are a runner and I am my father's son". Its awesome. Which brings us to the quote of the week:

"I'm a digger of holes in the land of holes" by WOLF PARADE from YOU ARE A RUNNER AND I AM MY FATHER'S SON
More wolf songs:
"Someone else is gonna come and clean it up, Born and raised for the job, Someone always does" from possibly my favorite RADIOHEAD song WOLF AT THE DOOR (those lyrics are featured on my AIM buddy icon)

don't forget:
THE GRANDMOTHER WOLF by PRETTY GIRLS MAKE GRAVES
WEREWOLVES OF LONDON by WARREN ZEVON
DIRE WOLF by THE GRATEFUL DEAD
and of course
HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF by DURAN DURAN
